Alnwick Castle is home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, and has been for over 700 years. Combining magnificent medieval architecture with sumptuous Italianate State Rooms, Alnwick Castle is one of the UK’s most significant heritage destinations. In recent years it has also taken starring roles ina number of film and television productions, featuring as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardary in the Harry Potter films, Tranformer’s The Last Knight, and in ITV’s Downton Abbey.
Just outside of the castle walls Alnwick Gardens is one of the most contemporary gardens on earth, with one of the world’s largest tree houses and its own Poison Garden. It’s a garden for everyone to behold, if you know your Roses from your Rhododendrons, Primroses from your Petunias, want to stroke a Giant Gorilla, or have a selfie with a Camel Riding a Meerkat you will have a wonderful day.
